Grandparent, Foster and Kinship Carer Adviser Line
Centrelink’s dedicated phone line to support formal and informal carers including grandparent, foster, kinship and permanent carers, connect to eligible Centrelink payments and services. The Grandparent, Foster and Kinship Carer Adviser Line can support grandparents and non-parents carers understand what Services Australia payments and services they are eligible for and support them through the application processes.
Who
The Advisers can provide tailored help for all non parent carers, including:
- grandparent carers
- a foster carers
- kinship carers
- permanent carers
- informal carers.
Grandparent, Foster and Kinship Carer Advisers can provide support, even if carers are not currently getting a payment or service from Services Australia.
What you can get
Non-parent carers may be eligible for extra financial help from Services Australia such as child care payments and Medicare services. The Grandparent, Foster and Kinship Carer Adviser Line can support formal and informal carers through these process.
Advisers can provide support and information related to:
- Centrelink,
- Medicare or
- Child Support.
Advisers can also provide additional support to carers, including booking appointments with:
- social workers
- Multicultural Service Officers
- Indigenous Service Officers
- Financial Information Service officers
- Community Engagement Officers.
